Drone Attack Sparks Massive Fire at Russian Chemical Plant

A large fire has erupted at the Acron chemical plant in Veliky Novgorod, Russia, following a drone attack.

At least five explosions were reported at the facility, which produces mineral fertilizers and materials used in explosives, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

Novgorod Governor Alexander Dronov confirmed the attack and said the air defense system intercepted 19 drones over the region. Unidentified drones also targeted Moscow overnight, prompting several airports to suspend operations and leading to 27 canceled departures and arrivals, with a red drone threat level declared.

Earlier, on December 4, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Nevinnomyssk Azot plant in Russia’s Stavropol region, a major facility in Russia’s military-industrial complex that produces over 1 million tons of ammonia and 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate annually.
