Iraq Halts Production at Rumaila Oil Field Amid Middle East Tensions

Oil production at Iraq’s largest field, Rumaila Oil Field, has been suspended due to export disruptions linked to escalating military activity in the Middle East.

The decision comes as ongoing regional hostilities have disrupted export operations, causing stockpiles to build up and storage tanks to reach capacity, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

Iraqi army units, supported by armored vehicles, have been deployed around Al-Zubair, west of Basrah, to protect oil fields and other critical infrastructure amid rising tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Meanwhile, US company Gulf Keystone Petroleum paused operations at the Shaikan Oil Field in Iraqi Kurdistan on March 2 as a precaution. Similar measures were taken by Dana Gas and DNO.
