Islamic Emirate and Kazakhstan Discuss Enhancing Transit and Trade

Afghanistan is looking to expand its regional transport partnerships, with a focus on strengthening ties with Kazakhstan, officials said following a high-level meeting in Kabul.

Mullah Abdul Salam Haidari, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister for Road Transport, met with Kalyakparov Maksat, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties in road and air connectivity, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the framework of a potential international road transport agreement and explored launching direct commercial flights between Kabul and Astana.

Speaking at the meeting, Haidari described enhanced transport links with Kazakhstan as a key part of Afghanistan’s broader regional and international cooperation strategy. “We are optimistic that these agreements will lead to a significant boost in trade and transit between our two countries and beyond,” he said.

Kazakhstan’s representative echoed this sentiment, reaffirming his country’s commitment to building comprehensive transport relations with Afghanistan.
