Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Set to Launch Four Additional Trade Corridors to Boost Bilateral Trade

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to open four more trade corridors as part of efforts to increase mutual trade turnover.

The initiative was revealed by Uzbek Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyer Ibragimov, during a meeting with entrepreneurs in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazinform.

Ibragimov spoke about the measures Uzbekistan takes to promote economic ties between the countries.

He said, ‘Tashkent is carrying out major repairs at checkpoints on the state border’.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan opened their trade centers in both countries.

It’s worth noting that currently, there are over 1,000 enterprises with Kazakhstani capital in Uzbekistan.

Last year, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan traded goods worth 4.2 billion US dollars, with the latter’s exports standing at 1.4 billion US dollars and imports at 2.8 billion US dollars.

In addition, Kazakhstan exported 2 million tons of grain to Uzbekistan in the past five months.
