Morning Missile Strike on Ukraine’s Poltava Leaves Two Dead, Dozens Hurt

A Russian missile strike hit the central Ukrainian city of Poltava on July 3 morning, killing two people and injuring eleven others.

The attack, which occurred around 9 a.m. (GMT+3), caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure and triggered multiple fires throughout the area. Poltava Governor Volodymyr Kohut confirmed the fatalities and destruction during a press conference, The Caspian Post reports, citing Ukrainian media.

Ukraine’s Land Forces revealed that one of the missiles struck the Poltava military enlistment office-a key facility in the region-setting it on fire. Another missile hit a location near the center, sparking a blaze at a nearby private home.

Emergency crews are on the scene, working to extinguish fires and support affected residents. Military officials stated that more details regarding the attack and the victims' conditions will be shared as they become available.

The incident represents a further escalation in the conflict impacting central Ukraine, highlighting the persistent threat to civilian areas during ongoing military engagements.
