NATO Summit in Türkiye to Focus on Ukraine, Euro-Atlantic Security and Defense Spending

The upcoming NATO Summit in Türkiye's capital Ankara will center on defense spending, regional security, the war in Ukraine, and challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic region.

Director of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, said that NATO leaders will review progress on increasing defense budgets under the alliance's comprehensive security strategy, The Caspian Post reports via TASS.

The summit will also feature strategic discussions on emerging threats, risks, and security challenges across the Euro-Atlantic area.

The situation in Ukraine and recent developments on NATO's southern flank are expected to be among the key topics on the agenda.

The North Atlantic Council meeting at the level of heads of state and government will take place on July 8, chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On July 7, Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan will host world leaders and their spouses at an official reception and dinner at the Presidential Complex.

Erdoğan is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with NATO leaders, including a meeting with US President Donald Trump, who is expected to receive a full state-level welcome ceremony.

The summit will bring together leaders from all 32 NATO member states, alongside around 100 ministers, while more than 56,000 security personnel have been deployed to ensure the event's safety.
