Türkiye is moving forward with a package of special privileges and logistical support for participants of the COP31 UN climate conference, as the country gears up to host one of the world's largest environmental summits in Antalya this November.
The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye is set to review an international agreement negotiated between Ankara and the United Nations that would grant COP31 delegates simplified entry and exit procedures when traveling to Türkiye, The Caspian Post reports via Azertac.
The proposed agreement also commits the Turkish government to covering the costs of the conference's preparatory events, scheduled for November 3-8. This includes providing meeting venues, facilities, equipment, infrastructure, and related services free of charge.
The main COP31 conference will take place from November 9-20 in Antalya, widely known as Türkiye's tourism capital, with organizers pledging to host the event in line with environmental management standards and sustainable development principles.
Turkish officials have repeatedly emphasized the importance of the summit, which is expected to bring together more than 80,000 participants from 196 countries, making it one of the largest international gatherings ever hosted by the country.
