Mayor of Ukraine's capital Kyiv Vitali Klitschko has said that a Russian drone attack struck Kyiv in the early hours of January 12, triggering fires and damage in the Solomianskyi district.
One of the drones hit a non-residential building directly, setting it ablaze, while falling debris landed near a residential building, shattering windows and sparking a small fire, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
Emergency services were quickly deployed to both locations, and efforts to assess the damage and extinguish the fires are ongoing. Information about possible casualties is still being specified.
The overnight attack was part of a broader wave of Russian drone strikes across Ukraine. In Odesa, drones damaged infrastructure and residential buildings, leaving parts of the Perysyp district without electricity for a time. Local authorities reported temporary power outages as emergency crews moved in to stabilize the situation.
Energy specialists are currently working to restore electricity in affected areas, while Ukrainian officials say emergency and transport services remain operational to minimize disruption to daily life.
