Ukrainian authorities are treating a recent explosion in Mykolaiv that injured seven police officers as a terrorist act, following a deadly attack on law enforcement in Lviv just a day earlier.
According to Ukraine’s National Police, officers from the Patrol Police Department were at a defunct gas station during a shift change when explosions occurred. Seven officers were wounded, two critically, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian National Police.
Coordinated Attacks Across Multiple Cities
Hours later, another explosion struck a police administrative building in Dnipro, causing significant property damage but no injuries. Officials say the incidents are not isolated, pointing to a deliberate campaign targeting Ukrainian law enforcement.
The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a terrorism investigation into the Mykolaiv blast, with explosives experts dispatched to the scene. Interior Minister Ivan Klymenko confirmed that investigations are ongoing, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said all circumstances are being thoroughly examined.
Pattern of Violence
The Mykolaiv incident follows a deadly February 22 attack in Lviv’s historic Old Town, where two explosions killed one police officer and injured 25 others. Zelenskyy described the Lviv incident as a terrorist attack orchestrated by Russia.
