Finance Minister Mohamed Yisr Barnieh Held Talks With Türkiye’s Ambassador to Damascus, Nuh Yilmaz, To Explore Ways of Strengthening Economic and Financial Cooperation Between the Two Nations.
The Ministry of Finance stated via its Telegram channel on Wednesday that the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the financial sector, encouraging Turkish financial institutions to operate in Syria, and strengthening banking relations between Syrian and Turkish banks to support trade and investment between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.
The meeting also addressed the possibility of benefiting from Türkiye's experience in the real estate financing sector, reforming the pension and retirement system, enhancing cooperation on double taxation, technical collaboration, and discussing the signing of a memorandum of understanding in this regard.
Both sides stressed the importance of developing investment and trade partnerships, while also drawing on Türkiye’s expertise in capacity building and knowledge transfer to support Syria’s ongoing economic and financial reform efforts.
The Turkish ambassador in Damascus expressed his country’s readiness to provide support in several vital sectors, particularly energy, water, infrastructure, and housing.
