Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin could be held either in a neutral part of Europe or in Türkiye.
“Regarding the venue, we consider it fair - as European partners have also emphasized - for the meeting to be held in neutral Europe, given that the war is taking place in Ukraine and on the European continent. I said we are open to this. Switzerland, Austria - we agree,” Zelenskyy stated, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Speaking about Türkiye, Zelenskyy noted that the NATO member is “part of Europe,” making it an acceptable option for Ukraine.
He ruled out Moscow as a possible location and described Budapest as a “controversial” choice for the summit.
“It’s complicated because there is unity among European countries in supporting Ukraine during this war. And to be honest, Budapest has not supported us. I am not saying that Orbán’s policy was against Ukraine, but it was against supporting Ukraine,” Zelenskyy explained.
