Another Junior Azerbaijani Judoka Crowned European Champion

Azerbaijani judoka Mahammad Musayev reached a major career milestone by claiming the gold medal at the European Judo Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, The Caspian Post reports.

Competing in the men’s 57kg weight category, Musayev secured the title after a decisive victory over France’s Alexis Renard in the final match, earning him the prestigious European champion title.

Earlier, Azerbaijani judoka Nihad Mamishov claimed a stunning victory at the 2025 European Junior Judo Championships, securing the gold medal in the men’s 60kg category.

Mamishov triumphed over Italy’s Francesco Sampino in the final match, earning the top spot on the podium and bringing pride to his nation with this impressive achievement.

The 2025 European Junior Judo Championships are being held in Bratislava, bringing together the continent’s top young judokas under the age of 21. The tournament serves as a major platform for emerging talent to compete at an international level, gain valuable experience, and showcase their skills in various weight categories. Athletes from across Europe are participating in both men’s and women’s divisions, with medalists earning recognition and potential opportunities to advance to senior-level European and world competitions.
