Azerbaijani boxers have showcased their determination and talent at the prestigious World Boxing Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, where they secured three bronze medals among top amateur fighters from around the world.
Azerbaijan is being represented by a strong delegation of 11 boxers, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Three Azerbaijani fighters reached the semifinal stage in their respective weight categories.
Subhan Mammadov (50 kg),
Mahammadali Gasimzade (60 kg), and
Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg)
each delivered solid performances but were ultimately defeated in their semifinal bouts. As a result, all three athletes secured bronze medals, adding to Azerbaijan’s growing list of achievements in international boxing.
The tournament features over 300 boxers from 30 countries, highlighting its international scale. The final bouts and closing ceremony are scheduled to take place on July 6.
