Lewis Hamilton set the benchmark in the second free practice session at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, edging out Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc for a commanding 1-2 finish for the team.
After stating his optimism for a strong weekend on the Baku streets, Hamilton ended the first day of action as the fastest driver, with his 1m 41.293s leading Leclerc by 0.074s, The Caspian Post reports, citing formula1.com.
But for title-chasing McLaren, the session was far more eventful, with Lando Norris missing the second half of the action after colliding with the wall and causing significant damage. Oscar Piastri also struck the wall, but escaped without damage.
George Russell and Kimi Antonelli were third and fourth respectively for Mercedes, while Ollie Bearman completed the top five for Haas. Max Verstappen was sixth.
