A member of the amateur hockey team SKA-Priozersk has died after collapsing during a match in the Kazakh city of Karaganda.
The incident took place during a game in an amateur hockey league, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
According to witnesses, the player suddenly felt unwell on the ice, dropped to his knees, and then lost consciousness. Emergency medical personnel who arrived at the arena attempted resuscitation but were unable to save him.
The Karaganda Regional Police Department confirmed the death to the media.
Preliminary information indicates that the 46-year-old athlete died from atherosclerotic heart disease.
