Uzbekistan Names Sindarov Chess Player of the Year

The Uzbekistan Chess Federation held a press conference to review the results of 2025 and outline plans for 2026.

During the event, the federation announced several initiatives aimed at further strengthening Uzbekistan’s chess system and honored the best performers of the year, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

According to the federation, Javokhir Sindarov, the winner of the 2025 FIDE World Cup, was recognized as Chess Player of the Year. In addition, Umida Omonova, ranked No. 3 on the Uzbekistan women’s national team, was named Women’s Chess Player of the Year.

Winners were also honored in several other categories:

  • Best young chess player of the year (under 12) - Nurmuhammad Nematillakhonov
  • Best young female chess player of the year (under 12) - Khusnora Khusniddinova
  • Best young female chess player of the year (under 20) - Afruza Hamdamova
  • Best young chess player of the year (under 20) - Muhiddin Madaminov
  • Best para chess player of the year - Marsel Shoyusupov
  • Best female para chess player of the year - Selbi Kakisheva
  • Best veteran chess player of the year - Uktam Sheraliyev
  • Best chess arbiter of the year - Komiljon Azizov
  • Best chess analyst of the year - Ulugbek Tillayev
  • Best chess commentator of the year - Anton Kim

At the conclusion of the event, all winners were formally awarded, and it was emphasized that their achievements are of great importance for the development of chess in Uzbekistan.
