Volleyball World Championship Begins in Tashkent

Uzbekistan is hosting the FIVB Boys' U19 World Championship for the first time from July 24 to August 3 this year.

A total of 288 young volleyball players from 24 countries will participate in the tournament. The competition will involve 56 international and 50 local referees, as well as 80 technical specialists, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.

All U19 World Championship matches will be held at the Yunusabad Sports Complex and the Uzbek State University of Physical Education and Sport.

The participating teams have been divided into the following groups:

Group A: Uzbekistan, Belgium, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Pakistan, Türkiye

Group B: France, Bulgaria, Japan, China, Algeria, Canada

Group C: Iran, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Poland, Spain

Group D: USA, Republic of Korea, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Finland

Today, matches in Group A kicked off at the Yunusabad Sports Complex.

The official opening ceremony of the World Championship will take place later today. Following the ceremony, the national teams of Uzbekistan and Türkiye will face each other.
