CSTO and Tajikistan Discuss Strengthening Cooperation and Key Tasks for Regional Security

On January 29, in Dushanbe, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov met with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rakhmon.

The sides have discussed the tasks of cooperation within the CSTO. There was a thorough exchange of views on the situation in the Organization's zone of responsibility and along its perimeter. The sides discussed topical issues on the regional and international agenda, The Caspian Post reports citing CSTO.

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasized the importance of timely implementation of the CSTO Special Interstate Policy for strengthening sections of the Tajik-Afghan Border, which was approved by the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 28, 2024, in Astana, expressing confidence that effective cooperation in this direction would contribute to ensuring regional security.

During the conversation, attention was focused on further strengthening comprehensive work within the Organization to counter challenges and threats to security, in particular terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, cybercrime and transnational organized crime.

The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security Major General Rajab Murodali Rajabzoda and Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan Aziz Nazar Savzali.
