Director of the Industrial Policy Department at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Nikolay Kushnarev has said that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) stands as a promising platform to enhance business cooperation between Central Asian countries and Tajikistan.
He made the remarks during the First Central Asian International Economic Forum in Dushanbe, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Kushnarev highlighted the EAEU’s potential to attract investments in key sectors such as industrial clusters, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, digital technologies, and finance.
“The platform not only facilitates free movement among member states but could also open doors for other Central Asian nations, improving their access to EAEU and global markets,” Kushnarev said.
He further noted that Tajik businesses stand to benefit from unified trade standards and streamlined procedures, alongside the development of transnational economic corridors linked to initiatives like China’s Belt and Road and the Eurasian Agroexpress project. This framework encourages regional integration and industrial collaboration while positioning Central Asia as a strategic hub for Eurasian and European companies aiming at Eastern and Asian markets.
Strengthening the real economy and fostering industrial cooperation are core priorities for the EEC, which pledges to act as a dialogue platform for mutually beneficial solutions between the EAEU and Tajikistan.
Since 2015, Tajikistan has been considering joining the EAEU. Russian President Vladimir Putin has underscored the importance of deepening ties between Tajikistan and the EAEU, citing successful cooperation within the bloc.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin confirmed that the government is carefully reviewing the benefits and challenges of membership, drawing lessons from the experience of Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
