Moscow Announces Putin’s Upcoming State Visit to Tajikistan

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Tajikistan on October 9.

Speaking about the visit, Pankin emphasized that the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan “set the tone for bilateral cooperation and, by personal example, demonstrate how friendship can and should be preserved in today’s complex world”, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

He added, “I am confident that the upcoming visit will give a strong new impetus to the development of our multifaceted ties and help identify new directions for bilateral engagement.”

During the visit, the two leaders are expected to discuss key issues on both the bilateral and regional agenda. Russia and Tajikistan maintain close cooperation in political, economic, military, and humanitarian spheres, with Russia being one of Tajikistan’s major trading partners.

Earlier, President Putin visited Tajikistan on June 28, 2022, for a working visit. That year also saw their second personal meeting on May 16, when both leaders participated in the anniversary summit of the CSTO in Moscow.
