Russia to Send 800,000 Russian Textbooks to Tajik Schools in 2025

Russian Deputy Minister of Education, State Secretary Andrey Korneev has announced that Russia will deliver 800,000 Russian language textbooks to Tajik schools in 2025, further expanding its educational assistance to Central Asia.

Korneev made these remarks during the First International Economic Forum of Central Asia in Dushanbe, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.

He noted that Russia has already provided nearly 400,000 textbooks, and the upcoming delivery is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Russian-language education in Tajikistan.

“We are ensuring the development and supply of Russian language textbooks on a systematic basis,” Korneev said.

In addition to textbook support, Korneev noted the implementation of infrastructure projects across Central Asia focused on building and equipping schools and centers for gifted children.

Among the initiatives is the construction of a new educational center for gifted students in Dushanbe, which will accommodate 500 children and is slated for completion by 2027. Currently, 11 such centers are operational across the region, with about 2,000 students enrolled last year.

Korneev also highlighted the presence of five Tajik-Russian schools built with Russian support, including the Yuri Gagarin School in Dushanbe. These institutions, opened in 2022, provide education in Russian and follow Russian federal standards.

At present, 72 Russian teachers are working in Tajikistan. That number is expected to increase to 80 in 2026.

Furthermore, President Vladimir Putin has expressed Russia’s willingness to expand university quotas for students from Tajikistan, enhancing access to higher education in Russian institutions.

To support continued Russian-language learning, the first Center for Continuing Education was recently launched in Dushanbe. The facility will host lessons in Russian language, literature, and history, along with seminars, master classes, and a variety of extracurricular activities.
