At the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Tajikistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin made an official visit to the Russian Federation on February 12-13, 2025, as reported by the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan.
During the visit, the heads of foreign ministries held detailed negotiations in narrow and extended formats, during which they discussed in detail the state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Russian relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of security, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
The ministers paid special attention to the efforts of the sides to fully implement the agreements reached during the summit talks on December 24, 2024 in the Leningrad region.
The sides discussed in detail the issue of migration cooperation with special emphasis on the need to respect the rights and freedoms of Tajik citizens staying in Russia.
In the course of the talks, the sides reaffirmed mutual support in promoting the initiatives of Tajikistan and Russia within the UN, SCO, CIS, CSTO and other multilateral structures.
Following the talks, the ministers signed the Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2025-2026 and Protocol No. 2 to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the terms of establishment and maintenance of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation, and those of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan, dated 16 April, 1999.
The talks were held in a trusting and constructive atmosphere characteristic of Tajik-Russian relations of strategic partnership and alliance.
