Tajikistan Gains $213 Million Support from International Development Organizations

Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavki Zavkizoda, has announced that the country attracted $213 million from international financial institutions and development partners in the first half of 2025, including $73 million in grants and concessional loans.

He emphasized that key macroeconomic indicators remained stable during this period, with the gross domestic product reaching 70.8 billion somoni and a real growth rate of 8.1 per cent, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The strongest contributors to economic growth included industrial production (24 per cent), fixed capital investments (14.6 per cent), paid services (12.8 per cent), agriculture (9.7 per cent), freight transportation (9.3 per cent), trade turnover (9 per cent), and passenger transportation (5.8 per cent).

Inflation was reported at 1.8 per cent, slightly lower by 0.1 percentage points compared to the first half of 2024. Zavkizoda noted that inflation was primarily driven by rises in food prices (up 2.9 per cent) and service tariffs (up 3.4 per cent).

He also pointed out that the average annual economic growth rate over the past five years during the first six months was 8.1 per cent, which is 1.9 percentage points higher than the 2016-2020 period.

Domestic trade turnover exceeded 33.31 billion somoni in the first half of 2025, representing a 9 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
