Tajikistan and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding development cooperation during high-level talks held this week in Dushanbe.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Idibek Kalandar met with Yoshifumi Yoshikawa, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to review ongoing projects and outline new areas of collaboration, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The discussions centered on boosting the qualifications of civil servants, advancing investment projects to improve access to drinking water, and upgrading transport and road infrastructure. The sides also highlighted cooperation prospects in agriculture and the energy sector-key priorities for Tajikistan’s long-term development.
Both delegations expressed readiness to deepen partnership across other strategic areas and to continue working toward Tajikistan’s national development goals.
The meeting follows earlier reports that Tajikistan is also seeking to expand economic and trade cooperation with the United States, underscoring the country’s broader push to strengthen international partnerships.
