Tajikistan is taking a major leap toward the future of connectivity with the launch of a national 5G consortium, uniting the government’s Communication Service and leading mobile operators to fast-track 5G rollout across the country.
Isfandiyori Sa’dullo, Head of the Communication Service under the Government of Tajikistan, said the initiative will coordinate network development, standardize technical protocols, and eliminate investment duplication to ensure a seamless nationwide 5G deployment, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
“The national 5G consortium will serve as the coordinating body between operators, eliminate the duplication of investments, and standardize technical parameters across the industry,” said Sa’dullo. “It will support the government’s broader digitalization policy, including the development of smart cities and attracting foreign investment.”
While some operators have already launched 5G in select areas, the consortium aims to unify frequency bands and technical standards, helping to reduce costs and accelerate coverage.
Pilot zones are already operating in Dushanbe and other major cities, with plans to reach 50 per cent of the population within five years. Full commercial 5G deployment is expected by the end of 2026, with widespread use across Tajikistan projected by 2030.
Backed by joint investments, government support, and international partnerships, the initiative marks a bold step in Tajikistan’s digital future, opening the door to faster internet, smart city solutions, and next-generation services for citizens and businesses alike.
