The Tajik government is introducing QR-guide plaques at cultural, historical, and tourist sites, allowing locals and visitors to access information in the Tajik, Russian, and English languages.
The initiative, part of the “Years of Digital Economy and Innovation - 2025-2030”, aims to enhance tourist infrastructure, provide accurate information, and promote Dushanbe’s cultural and historical heritage, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The project was approved by Mayor Rustam Emomali and developed in collaboration with civil society institutes.
By scanning the marble QR plaques, visitors can access detailed text and audio information about 45 key sites via the official portal Dushanbe Travel. Plans are underway to add the Chinese and Arabic languages.
Officials say the project will improve tourist information services, promote heritage, and reduce reliance on unlicensed guides, with QR plaques to be expanded to additional sites across the city.
Tourism in Tajikistan is on the rise: around 1.4 million foreign tourists visited in the first nine months of 2025, a 24 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, with most visitors coming from CIS member states.
