Dushanbe has seen the official opening of the Water Diplomacy Center at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Tajikistan this week.
Tajik Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended the unveiling ceremony, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.
The center’s launch coincides with the 25th anniversary of President Emomali Rahmon’s first major water initiative - the proclamation of 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater, unanimously adopted at the UN General Assembly in 2000.
Muhriddin highlighted that President Rahmon’s initiatives have been instrumental in advancing the global water agenda and promoting water diplomacy, noting that the new center is both timely and vital for research, education, and international cooperation in water management.
The opening reflects Tajikistan’s commitment to sustainable water solutions and regional collaboration, building on decades of leadership in water diplomacy.
Earlier this week, Dushanbe also hosted the Days of Kazakhstan’s Cinema, celebrating shared cultural values and the centuries-old friendship between the two nations.
