The annual report of the International Agency for Renewable Energy in Tajikistan states that from 2015 to 2024, the country's installed renewable energy capacity grew by 15.8%, amounting to an increase of 781 megawatts (MW).
According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the country, the total capacity of renewable energy sources increased from 4957 MW in 2015 to 5738 MW in 2024, which is mainly due to the development of hydropower plants, The Caspian Post reports citing Tajik media.
It should be noted that Tajikistan currently produces 98 percent of electricity from the country’s hydropower resources and ranks sixth in the world in terms of the share of green energy production from renewable sources.
Currently, Tajikistan is the leader among Central Asian countries in terms of green energy production.
