Tajikistan and Russia have taken a major step toward strengthening their longstanding partnership, signing a joint statement and 16 new bilateral agreements following high-level talks between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Dushanbe.
The negotiations concluded with a formal ceremony where the two sides signed and exchanged documents spanning interstate, intergovernmental, and interagency cooperation, highlighting a broadening of strategic collaboration, The Caspian Post informs via the press service of the Tajik president.
Key outcomes of the visit include:
Establishment of a Tajik-Russian industrial park and a light industry cluster to boost joint manufacturing and innovation;
A transport cooperation program for 2025-2030, aimed at improving regional connectivity and logistics;
Expanded collaboration in education and healthcare, with a focus on combating cholera and introducing medical screening protocols for labor migrants.
In a critical move on environmental safety, the two countries also signed a roadmap with Rosatom, Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation, to carry out assessment and rehabilitation of the Digmay tailings storage facility, a project addressing both ecological and public health concerns.
These agreements reflect a notable expansion in bilateral ties, reinforcing the commitment of both Moscow and Dushanbe to advance cooperation across economic, industrial, scientific, and humanitarian sectors.
