The second Russia-Central Asia Summit is being held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on October 9, convening the leaders of Russia and five Central Asian nations to advance regional cooperation across a wide spectrum of strategic areas.
Russian Presidential Aide for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov confirmed President Vladimir Putin’s participation in the high-level gathering, hosted by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
Also attending are President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
“We expect the discussions to be highly productive and beneficial for both Russia and the Central Asian states,” Ushakov said. “President Putin and all five Central Asian leaders will take an active part in the dialogue.”
The summit, held in a six-party format, aims to enhance cooperation in key sectors including trade, finance, investment, energy, industry, logistics, and infrastructure. Leaders will also focus on joint efforts to bolster regional security, with particular attention to developments in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
