Tajikistan to Launch Gold-Selling ATMs for Public Access

Tajikistan is set to roll out special ATMs that will allow citizens to buy and sell gold bars directly, in a move aimed at expanding public access to precious metals.

Speaking at a press conference, National Bank Chairman Firdavs Tolibzoda announced that the project will introduce dedicated machines enabling customers to purchase gold bars instantly - without visiting a bank branch.

“We plan to install special equipment for selling gold. Customers will be able to directly purchase the required amount of bars from ATMs without going to a bank,” Tolibzoda said.

The initiative is being implemented on the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon and is designed to make gold investment more convenient and transparent for the population. Payments will be made via bank cards, and customers will receive their gold bars immediately from the machine. The ATMs will also feature a buyback option, allowing individuals to sell gold back through the same system.

According to the National Bank, approximately 200 kilograms of gold bars - valued at $23.7 million - were sold in Tajikistan in 2025, highlighting strong domestic demand for gold as a savings and investment tool.
