The Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan has officially established an Interdepartmental Commission on Artificial Intelligence Regulation.
Tasked with steering the implementation of national AI and digital technology policies, the commission will play a central role in advancing the country’s long-term “Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence until 2040”, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The strategy outlines a vision for integrating AI across key sectors such as agriculture, industry, healthcare, finance, and trade, with a focus on sustainable development both within Tajikistan and across Central Asia.
Backed by a recent UN General Assembly resolution encouraging global cooperation on AI, Tajikistan is aligning its efforts with regional partners to ensure responsible and inclusive technological progress. A key initiative under the strategy is the establishment of a Regional Center for Artificial Intelligence for Central Asian Countries in Dushanbe. The center will serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, workforce training, curriculum development, and the creation of ethical and self-regulatory frameworks for AI systems.
The Agency is also spearheading nationwide digital transformation projects aimed at closing infrastructure gaps, building digital competencies, and fostering strong public-private partnerships.
