Tajikistan Welcomes Over 760,000 Tourists, Marking Major Year-on-Year Growth

In the first half of 2025, Tajikistan welcomed more than 760,000 tourists through its border checkpoints, marking a 31 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Dushanbe, the capital, remained the top destination, attracting 456,835 visitors-about 60 per cent of the country’s total inbound tourists, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Notably, over 96,500 of these guests arrived via Dushanbe’s international airport and railway stations, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 28,600.

This growth aligns with the country’s Tourism Development Strategy through 2030, which highlights Dushanbe’s rich cultural attractions and well-developed infrastructure as key drivers of the sector’s expansion.

Officials note that the increase in tourist traffic points to the improved quality and accessibility of services. Currently, the city is home to over 2,500 tourism and hospitality facilities catering to both domestic and international travelers. Recent upgrades to Dushanbe’s public transport system-including modern bus stops and the rollout of contactless payment options-have also enhanced the overall visitor experience.
