The two-week intercultural dance residency at Jolda Dance Theatre, featuring choreographers and dancers from Turkmenistan, is coming to a close.
The residency will conclude with a public performance on October 3, unveiling the creative works developed during the “Dance Turkmenistan!” project, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.
The residency, which began on September 22, represents a key phase of the project led by the French Institute in Turkmenistan, in strategic partnership with the Turkmen Ministry of Culture. The initiative is further supported by the Delegation of the European Union, the Embassies of France and Italy, and the Goethe-Institut in Kazakhstan.
Focused on fostering cultural exchange, collaboration, and networking, the residency allowed participants to deepen their artistic skills through a series of workshops, seminars, and masterclasses conducted by local experts. Under the guidance of an experienced curatorial and coaching team, the artists prepared innovative performance pieces that will be presented at the final event.
In addition to creative development, the residency offered Turkmen dancers unique access to prominent cultural venues in Almaty, including the Samruk and Tselinny Contemporary Dance Theaters, where they collaborated with distinguished performing artists.
The project is funded by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) and forms part of the European Spaces of Culture program, which aims to build innovative cultural partnerships between EU member states and countries beyond the Union.
