The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has outlined in a new report that Turkmenistan’s border checkpoints achieved a perfect score of 100 per cent in the category of “transport regulation” of the latest analysis of the Cross-Border Trade and Transport Facilitation Index (CBTTFI).
The study covered six border crossings across the region, including checkpoints in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, The Caspian Post reports per Turkmen media.
Turkmenistan’s outstanding result highlights its high level of organization and efficiency in managing transport regulations, which is critical for ensuring stability and transparency in international freight movement.
The report also highlighted the strengths of other regional border points. Azerbaijan’s Red Bridge checkpoint demonstrated a strong overall efficiency score of 71 per cent, while Uzbekistan’s Yallama checkpoint led in aggregate rating with 77 per cent. Pakistan’s Torkham checkpoint topped the categories of “customs coordination” (88 per cent) and “transit support” (82 per cent).
According to the ADB, these findings are expected to support the further enhancement of transport and logistics cooperation and the development of regional trade corridors, where Turkmenistan plays a strategic role.
