Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has extended warm congratulations to the elders, mothers, and all citizens of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, honoring the senior generation’s enduring role in shaping the nation’s cultural heritage and social values.
In a formal address, the president emphasized Turkmenistan’s long-standing tradition of respecting elders and drawing upon their wisdom and guidance, The Caspian Post inform via Turkmen media.
He noted that various celebratory events-including musical performances, cultural exhibitions, and community gatherings-are taking place in Ashgabat, Arkadag, and other regions to mark the day.
President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed that supporting the senior population remains a central focus of national policy. He cited the government’s ongoing socio-economic development initiatives, including the 2022-2052 and 2022-2028 national programs, as well as specific efforts aimed at improving living standards in rural and remote communities.
Recognizing the vital role older citizens play in promoting unity, patriotism, and humanistic values among younger generations, the President announced the awarding of the honorary title "Hormatly il ýaşulusy" and the "Zenan kalby" order to distinguished elders for their service and contributions to the nation.
He also referenced key decisions made during the recent session of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) in Ashgabat, held in anticipation of Turkmenistan’s upcoming Independence Day. These decisions, he noted, will guide the country’s continued progress and long-term development.
Concluding his message, President Berdimuhamedov offered his heartfelt wishes for the health, happiness, and longevity of Turkmenistan’s older citizens, thanking them for their continued dedication to the country’s wellbeing.
