Kazakhstan is home to 448 centenarians - people aged 100 and older - according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The oldest citizen currently is a 115-year-old woman living in the Ulytau region. She is followed by a 113-year-old from Pavlodar region and a 110-year-old from Zhambyl region, making up the top three oldest individuals in the country, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Among the regions, Almaty city has the greatest number of centenarians, with 58 residents aged 100 and beyond. Turkistan region follows with 53, and Almaty region ranks third with 37 such individuals.
The Ministry also drew attention to the International Day of Older Persons, observed each year on October 1 worldwide, including in Kazakhstan. Established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 14, 1990, this observance honors the contributions of older generations, raises awareness of their needs and challenges, and promotes efforts to improve their quality of life while fostering respect and care toward the elderly.
