Turkmen Tech Talent Gets Boost with China’s New K-Visa Initiative

Starting October 1, the People’s Republic of China will introduce a new K-category visa aimed at attracting young international specialists in science and technology, offering professionals from countries like Turkmenistan expanded opportunities for education, research collaboration, and global networking.

Spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun stated that the visa is part of China’s efforts to enhance international cooperation and exchanges among young scientists and high-tech professionals, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Distinct from 12 existing standard visa types, the new K-category visa offers several advantages, including multiple entries, longer validity periods, and extended durations of stay, giving visa holders greater flexibility.

Recipients of the K-category visa will be eligible to participate in educational, cultural, and scientific-technical programs, as well as pursue entrepreneurial and business ventures. To qualify, applicants must meet basic criteria related to age, education, and professional experience. Importantly, the application process has been streamlined, with no requirement for an invitation letter from Chinese authorities.
