Specialists from Turkmenistan’s State Customs Service and Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee have convened in Urgench for a collaborative working meeting aimed at enhancing trade transparency and accuracy through a detailed comparative analysis of bilateral foreign trade data.
The meeting was held under the framework of the Protocol on the Exchange of Information on the Movement of Goods in Mutual Trade, which was signed in Tashkent on July 14, 2022. By cross-referencing import and export data across various commodity groups, the experts identified and assessed discrepancies in trade records, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
This collaboration resulted in the establishment of mutually agreed and reliable statistical data sets for Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan trade. The enhanced data exchange and verification process improves transparency, helps curb illegal trade activities, and ensures the accuracy of macroeconomic indicators. These outcomes support more informed policymaking aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
The joint efforts of the customs authorities not only deepen economic ties but also enhance the efficiency and reliability of trade flows across the region.
