Turkmenistan Advances Economic Growth Plans with International Trade Centre

Officials from Turkmenistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva have met with representatives of the International Trade Centre (ITC) to discuss critical steps in Turkmenistan’s economic development.

The discussions focused on the country’s World Trade Organization (WTO) accession process and preparations for the upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The ITC, a joint agency of the WTO and the UN, supports developing nations in integrating into the global trading system.

Turkmenistan has accelerated its efforts to join the WTO in recent years, and the collaboration with ITC remains vital for adapting national trade legislation, boosting export capacity, and maximizing global market opportunities. The meeting reviewed progress made and outlined future priorities in this strategic endeavor.

A significant portion of the dialogue centered on the upcoming LLDC3 conference, which Turkmenistan will host at the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 5 to 8, 2025. This high-profile international event aims to address the specific challenges faced by landlocked developing countries and to develop sustainable solutions to improve their economic prospects.

Both Turkmenistan and the ITC highlighted the conference’s importance as a platform for international cooperation and reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s growing role on the world stage as it contributes to tackling global development issues.
