Turkmenistan, Austria Discuss Strategic Cooperation Ahead of UN Conference In Avaza

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Austria, Hemra Amannazarov, has held a meeting with Sepp Schellhorn, State Secretary at Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordinating efforts ahead of the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs).

The conference, set to take place from August 5 to 8, 2025, in Avaza, Turkmenistan, aims to foster sustainable development in countries without access to the sea, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

Key issues on the agenda include transport infrastructure, international trade, energy, and regional integration.

Diplomatic ties between Turkmenistan and Austria date back to 1992. Turkmenistan is accredited in Vienna, where it maintains missions to the OSCE, United Nations, and IAEA. Numerous intergovernmental agreements are active in various sectors, with Austrian companies playing an active role in economic and technological projects within Turkmenistan.
