Turkmenistan-China Talks Boost Cooperation Across Education, Culture, and Energy

As part of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China, members of the Turkmen delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with Chinese counterparts, focusing on strengthening cooperation in education, culture, media, energy, and transport.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including intellectual property, academic collaboration, cultural exchanges, media cooperation, and infrastructure development, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Special attention was given to intellectual property, with both sides sharing expertise on protection mechanisms and legal frameworks to create a stronger basis for innovation and copyright protection.

Academic collaboration was explored through plans for joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and scientific conferences. Cultural dialogue focused on museum practices, with agreements to organize joint exhibitions and related events to preserve and promote cultural heritage.

Media cooperation was also emphasized, with a commitment to information exchange, joint media initiatives, and professional development for journalists.

In the transport sector, discussions addressed expanding infrastructure, improving logistics, and developing road and rail networks.

The energy sector was identified as a key area for collaboration, with exchanges on modernizing infrastructure and implementing sustainable energy technologies. The initiatives aim to strengthen regional energy security and open new avenues for mutual investment.

The meetings concluded with the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs):

Between the Institute of International Relations of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry and China’s Lanzhou University.

Between the Finance and Economy Ministry of Turkmenistan and the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

Between the Turkmen Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of China.

Between online newspapers “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” and People’s Daily (Renmin Ribao).
