Turkmenistan and leading Japanese companies have held high-level discussions to advance joint initiatives in green and renewable energy, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation and support sustainable development in key sectors.
During his working visit to Japan for the first Central Asia-Japan Dialogue Summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting in Tokyo’s Palace Hotel with leaders of major Japanese corporations, including Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Komatsu, Toyo Engineering, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia, Tohkemy, and ITOCHU, as well as representatives of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Japanese business community for organizing the meeting, highlighting its importance for deepening Turkmen-Japanese economic cooperation.
He noted that Turkmenistan continues strengthening its long-standing collaboration with Japanese companies while pursuing new, larger-scale economic goals.
The president emphasized that Japan serves as a model of advanced technology, innovative economic approaches, industrial growth, and environmental responsibility. Turkmenistan aims to transform its economic model with priorities including innovation strategies, accelerated industrialization, a green transition, energy sector diversification, and the development of national and international transport and logistics links.
Praising Japanese companies’ contributions to Turkmenistan’s economy over the years, President Berdimuhamedov encouraged new investment projects in areas such as water supply, wastewater treatment, waste management, green and hydrogen energy, and the circular economy.
Business leaders expressed confidence that the president’s visit would strengthen bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting joint initiatives between Turkmenistan and Japan.
