Turkmenistan’s Lebap Shows Strong Rise in Farming Output

In the first 11 months of 2025, melon production in Lebap province of Turkmenistan rose by nearly 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Farmers harvested 183,000 tons of melons, surpassing last year’s output by more than 15,000 tons, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Other sectors also saw significant growth:

Egg purchases increased by 6.1 per cent (over 250 million units)

Fruit and vegetable processing rose 6 per cent (about 50,000 tons)

Vegetable purchases grew 4.7 per cent (over 312,000 tons)

Meat production increased 2.2 per cent (153,000 tons)

Production of cotton fiber, apples, grapes, meat, and milk also climbed by 2.2 per cent compared to 2024.

The livestock sector experienced growth as well:

Camel population up nearly 2 per cent

Cattle herd increased by more than 1,300 heads

Poultry numbers rose by over 5,500

These results highlight Lebap province’s expanding agricultural output and livestock development, contributing to Turkmenistan’s overall food security and rural economy.
