Belgium has decided to open an embassy in Tashkent, marking a significant milestone in its expanding relationship with Uzbekistan and highlighting growing European engagement with Central Asia.
The new diplomatic mission is expected to elevate political dialogue and strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries across a range of sectors, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium were established in 1992. Since 1995, Uzbekistan has maintained an embassy in Brussels, which also serves as a key channel for engagement with the European Union.
Recent years have seen a notable increase in bilateral cooperation, driven in part by Uzbekistan’s economic reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, liberalizing the economy, and attracting foreign partners.
The two countries are currently expanding cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, industry, education, and tourism, while parliamentary exchanges and business-to-business contacts continue to deepen ties.
