EBRD President Heads to Uzbekistan for Investment and Reform Talks

President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, is set to visit Uzbekistan from June 17 to 19 for a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation with one of the bank’s top investment destinations.

During her visit, Renaud-Basso is scheduled to meet with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and hold talks with senior government officials on the country’s economic reform agenda and investment priorities, The Caspian Post reports via EBRD.

The EBRD chief will also co-chair a plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council, bringing together policymakers and international investors to discuss opportunities in Uzbekistan’s rapidly evolving economy.

The visit highlights Uzbekistan’s growing importance for the EBRD. The bank has invested nearly $6.9 billion (€6 billion) in the country through 210 projects, with the majority of funding directed toward private-sector development and entrepreneurship.

Uzbekistan has remained the largest recipient of EBRD financing in Central Asia for six consecutive years, reflecting strong international confidence in the country's reform efforts and economic potential.
