Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze hosted an official state dinner in Tbilisi in honor of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Georgia on a two-day state visit accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Kobakhidze described the visit as a landmark event, noting that it is the first state-level visit by the president of Uzbekistan to Georgia in the history of bilateral relations, The Caspian Post reports via 1tv.ge.
As part of the welcoming ceremony, the sides rode the Tbilisi Funicular and enjoyed panoramic views of the Georgian capital. In a symbolic gesture, the Tbilisi TV Tower was illuminated in the colors of Uzbekistan's national flag.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold one-on-one talks with Kobakhidze, followed by expanded bilateral meetings involving senior officials from both countries.
The two sides are also expected to sign a series of cooperation memorandums covering multiple sectors, with official negotiations aimed at strengthening political, economic, and regional cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan.
