During an official visit to Iraq, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov and Uzbek Ambassador to Iraq Ayubkhon Yunusov have met with Kurdistan’s Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Sarwar Kamal Hawari to discuss enhancing trade and economic cooperation.
Kurdistan, with a population of around 7 million, boasts a high-demand market for imported goods, with an annual turnover of about $17 billion, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Key import sectors include food products, agricultural raw materials, industrial equipment, construction materials, household appliances, and chemicals.
The parties discussed expanding business ties, and implementing joint projects in industrial and investment sectors. They highlighted the significant potential of the Iraqi market for Uzbek entrepreneurs.
As a next step, a delegation of Iraqi companies is planned to visit Uzbekistan in January for business-to-business (B2B) meetings. The Chamber of Commerce encourages businesses to actively seize these new market opportunities and offers full support for developing practical cooperation.
