Uzbek Leader Opens Doors to Major Textile Enterprise in Namangan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited a new enterprise of the Iftikhor Kiyim Sanoat cluster in Turakurgan district of Namangan region, which has emerged as a leader in the country’s textile industry.

Textiles remain one of Namangan’s key economic drivers, accounting for one-third of regional industrial output and half of exports, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The region hosts around 2,500 enterprises under nearly 250 brands, providing jobs and income for more than 100,000 people.

To expand production capacity, the Namangan Free Economic Zone was recently extended to Turakurgan. Among almost 20 projects being developed there, the Iftikhor Kiyim Sanoat enterprise stands out for its collaboration with leading international brands. The factory produces clothing for Bugatti, Pierre Cardin, Roy Robson, Baldessarini, Lavard, Jake’s, Engbers, Cinque, and Walbusch, as well as upholstery fabrics for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Rolls-Royce-making it the only facility of its kind in the region.

The $198 million project financed the construction of state-of-the-art production facilities and laboratories, and the acquisition of energy-efficient equipment from Germany, Italy, Türkiye, and Poland. Its in-house laboratory conducts strict quality control, assisting to build trust with global partners.

Once operating at full capacity, the enterprise is expected to generate $100 million in annual output, create 2,000 new jobs, and provide a stable source of tax revenue for the region.

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev toured production workshops, spoke with employees, and met with international participants of the “From Poverty to Prosperity” forum, which also featured an exhibition of garments and products from other industries.

The president was also briefed on plans to implement 252 large-scale projects in Namangan region with foreign investment in textiles, construction, electrical engineering, tourism, agriculture, and chemicals. He instructed officials to create favorable conditions for investors, speed up project implementation, expand job opportunities, and raise household incomes.
