Uzbekistan and Oman are set to launch direct air connections between their capitals as part of expanding bilateral cooperation.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman led by Economy Minister Khamis bin Saif Al-Jabri, who visited Tashkent to attend an international investment forum, The Caspian Post reports via president.uz.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Omani delegation conveyed greetings from Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
The two sides discussed ways to expand trade, economic, investment, and financial cooperation. Officials noted growing trade turnover and ongoing joint projects through the Uzbekistan-Oman investment company.
Special attention was given to promising areas of collaboration, including transport, logistics, geology, e-commerce, and digital infrastructure.
A key outcome of the talks was the agreement to launch direct flights between the two capitals starting next month, marking a significant step in improving connectivity and boosting business and tourism flows.
The sides also agreed to hold a joint intergovernmental commission meeting in Muscat later this year.
